MSLIA January 2025 Monthly Meeting Minutes

  1. Called to Order at 7:04 PM. Present: Jeff C, Jon N, Greg A, Bob B, Mike C, Joe C, Casey S, Al P, Doug B
  2. Minutes approved from November (Bob, Casey).
  3. Presidents Report: Recap 2024 goals and achievements. 2025: Add dues collection info to periodic emails, Increase turnout at the annual meeting, obtain legal opinion letter from attorneys based on information Kara got from LARA Corporation Division (need budget), Ask Jeff Payne to get positive confirmation that pump is ready to go this summer, have 96% of invoices paid (by number, not $ amount), Improve weeding program, Get something in process to help the Eldora Canal situation, Get up to 90% of members email addresses, Improve the swag ordering/distribution process.
  4. Vice President: Passed around various hat styles – #2, 3 and 7 were selected.
  5. Secretary Report: Add Zelle info to mailing insert.
  6. Treasurers Report: Went over reports. Motion: allocate $5,000 to write legal opinion letter on MSLIA incorporation and representation status. (Greg/Joe) passed unanimously.
  7. Standing Committee reports

    a. Social – Casey S – Winter Party February 1st. Ordered firepit and wood. $450 net pick-em income to be distributed among the associations based on paid-dues. July 19th will be Summer Party/Poker Run. Planning a lake trivia night on the water. 29 signed up for Euchre as of now.
    b. Water Quality – Al P – Need to forward Al the PDF of prior lake studies that Ryan A scanned.
    c. Ecology/Biology – Joe C Looking into harvesting options, possible equipment lease/rental/shared purchase. Will get drone video to assist weeding this year. Will work with Al on the canal clean-up project.
    d. Lake Safety – Bob B Brought the laminated cards and a box to mount at Bloomer. Will have extras to hand out at annual meeting. Bob will investigate the removal of sunken buoys at West Acres.
    e. Public Relations – Kara D – absent. Ask Kara to update Facebook with Ice safety info.
    f. Government Relations – Mike C – New supervisor is Jonathan Warshay. Will reach out at some point.
    g. Associations – No representatives.
  8. Old Business – Bay Pointe has turned off the landing lights.
  9. New Business – Doug B is renewing his $1,000 sponsorship for 2025 and would like to attend some more events. Next meeting at Multi-Lakes 2/12 Adjourned 8:30 PM
