MSLIA 2024 Annual Membership Meeting

- Meeting called to order 7:05 PM.
- Greg read minutes of 2023 meeting. Bob Barbour motioned to approve, Dennis Bott 2nd. Minutes were approved.
- Presidents Report: Welcomed attendees. Gave overview of the MSLIA and the board. Went over goals for 2024: Produce a laminated lake rules handout, Reduce non-payors by 20%, Create a new social event, Keep lake pump working, Commission a new lake study, Increase member attendance at all events, Improve our website and move merchandise sales on-line, Create a lake directory, Improve relations with Westacres. Westacres docking is now a settled matter at 47 boats. Gave update on Bay Pointe new ownership. Updated lake pump is now working thanks to the efforts of Lower Straits association. The increase in dues did not affect collections and out of 10 liens filed, 7 have paid them off. Fireworks display is scheduled for 7/6. Discussion on wake boats and proposed laws.
- Vice President Report: Went over the current merchandise and plans to move sales to the web.
- Treasurers Report: Went over Treasurer’s report.
- Secretary’s Report: Went over activity.
- Standing Committee and Association reports
a. Social – Casey announced Summer party will be 6/22 with a new event – a Poker Run starting at 1 PM and party starting at 2. Boat parade will be July 4th at 8 PM. 8/10 is the boat rally and we will put together a bowling league for the winter with details to follow.
b. Water Quality – Weeding is scheduled to take place starting July 8th. Fish stocking since 1999 has included: Pike, Bass, Crappie, Red Ear. Last year we only stocked Golden Shiners. Trying to get Pike or Bass for this year.
c. Ecology/Biology – Al Proulx – Absent
d. Government Relations – Mike Caruso – Discussed the boat launch usage and the Memorandum of Understanding which MSLIA entered into with the township regarding our use for weeding and fireworks.
e. Public Relations – Kara Dunn – Discussed the website.
f. Lake safety – Bob Barbour – advised people to call the Sheriff if they unsafe boating. Also reminded that the use of a spotter is mandatory.
g. Tripps Beach – Will be improving their boat launch - Old Business – No progress on Goose Round-up.
- New Business – Greg Andrick motioned to adjourn, Bob B seconded. Meeting adjourned 7:56 PM.
