MSLIA July 2024 Monthly Meeting Minutes

  1. Called to Order at 7:05 PM. Present: JChip C, Jeff C, Greg A, Bob B, Pete S, Jon N, Kara D,
  2. Matt B, Al P
  3. Minutes approved from May (Pete, Bob).
  4. Presidents Report: Discussed annual meeting and the decision to move the bylaw change vote to next year. Will also explore modifying the bylaws to allow for emailed or posted changes rather than mailed. Went over the new lake safety card. Will have a picture of the lake with no-wake zones shown and incorporate Bob’s boating laws.
  5. Vice President: Merchandise has not been selling and wasn’t available at the summer party. Have white golf towels we will sell for $15 because they are not tri-fold. Black golf towels are $20. Have most of the thermal mugs still.
  6. Secretary Report: No report
  7. Treasurers Report: Went over the report. Top 10 non-payors represent $16K in back dues, Westacres represents about ½ of that. Jeff will send a letter to the people that owe more than $300 and Chip will prepare statements for everyone else that has a balance. Will explore upgrading our Quickbooks so we can automate the late-fees.
  8. Standing Committee reports

    a. Social – Locked in fireworks for June 27 (Friday) next year. Bay Pointe may be interested in sponsoring a 2nd barge. Need more people to sign up for bowling – need count by mid-August. Voted on boat parade winner – the Yellow Nautique. Discussed the “Light up the Lake” torch fundraiser.
    b. Water Quality – Have begun looking into a company to clear the canal of downed limbs and other blockages.
    c. Ecology/Biology – Weed harvester has worked 1½ days so far because of equipment/personnel issues and rain.
    d. Lake Safety – Further discussion on the lake rules safety card.
    e. Public Relations – Facebook has been pretty active. Renewed the website for 2 more years. Will need to renew SSL in November
    f. Government Relations – Absent.
    g. Associations – None present.

  9. New Business – Pete noticed that Westacres has partially sunken buoy that is a navigation hazard as it is below the waterline. Matt Barron will check into it.
  10. Old Business – Next meeting August 14 will be floating at Matt Barron’s dock. Adjourned 8:37 PM
